Wills - Consider naming the Association for the Visually Impaired, Inc. in your will. Your gift can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. AVI can also be named a remainder beneficiary to receive funds only after specific bequests have been paid to your beneficiaries. Consult your attorney or tax advisor before you execute these special arrangements.
Gifts of Securities - Long term, appreciated securities can help you, the donor, avoid paying any tax on the increase in value since you first purchased the securities and you'll receive a tax deduction based on the fair market value of the securities at the time the gift is made.
Gifts of Life Insurance - By naming AVI as the beneficiary of the life insurance, you still retain the right to change the beneficiary at a later date. By naming AVI both owner of the policy and beneficiary, you can receive a tax deduction equal approximately to the cash surrender value at the time of the gift. If you continue making annual premium payments, the amount of the premium payment will be tax deductible each year.
Planned Gift - A substantial gift which will benefit both AVI and the donor. A properly structured planned gift can guarantee a life income to the donor and spouse, produce substantial income and estate tax benefits and secure the future of AVI.
Memorials, Gifts & Bequests - honoring a friend or loved one or to celebrate a special event will help AVI continue many of its programs and services. Gifts in honor of a deceased loved one will become a living memorial.
