What does AVI do?

We help blind and visually impaired children and adults function to their fullest potential.

How does AVI help?

• By providing training to children in their homes or pre-schools thereby laying the foundation for independence in adulthood.

• By aiding working people who develop sight disorders to stay employed, through the use of modern technology.

• By teaching skills to the elderly who lose vision so they can remain in their own homes safely and as independently as possible.

• By providing blind and visually impaired individuals with escort services and transportation to medical appointments as necessary.

AVI is partially funded by private donations, the County of Rockland, and in Rockland County, the United Way and the Office for the Aging. In Orange County we are funded by the Office for the Aging. New York State funding is received from the Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.
