Employment Placement Program
Association for the Visually Impaired has recently launched an Employment Placement Program for blind/visually impaired people who wish to work. An employment specialist helps blind individuals locate employment opportunities, assist with resumes, act as liaison to employers and is available to assess employment environment.

NEWS
The Association for the Visually Impaired (AVI) is proud to announce receipt of a grant from Union State Bank Foundation in the amount of $3500 and a grant from Orange & Rockland Community Foundation in the amount of $500. Funds will be used to provide programs and services for the blind and visually impaired members of the community and for Vision Awareness Month which is October for AVI. |
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to enable persons of all ages who are visually impaired, blind or deaf-blind living throughout Rockland and Orange Counties to lead as independent a life as possible by providing rehabilitation and counseling services in their homes and communities. AVI strives to improve the quality of life for each consumer by recognizing individual preferences and specific needs. We provide individualized rehabilitation teaching, social services, orientation and mobility, functional vision training and educational services. |
The Association for the Visually Impaired, Inc. (AVI), a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1973, serves blind and severely visually impaired residents of Rockland and Orange Counties in New York. Services are provided on a one-to-one basis in the consumers' homes and communities. Our goal is to enable our consumers to function independently and to maximize their potential.
